Analysis of European corrugated packaging industry and how China's carton industry will move forward
release date: Source: global printing and packaging industry
in recent years, many domestic associations or 3.1 lifting mechanisms should have a lifting control deviation of 0 ~ 25mm. Media organizations visit advanced corrugated box enterprises in developed countries and regions such as Europe, America and Japan. They always come back with great emotion and feel that corrugated box enterprises in Europe and America are automated With a high degree of intelligence, I think the management of Japanese corrugated box enterprises is really worth learning
according to the 2018 data released by the European corrugated box manufacturers' Federation (the 2019 data have not been released). The overall data of European corrugated box industry in 2018 are as follows (according to the author's observation, the countries shown in the data mainly include Austria, Benelux, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Norway, Poland, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, Britain, etc. Russia should not be included) :
the total shipment of corrugated boxes is 48.177 billion square meters or 24.307 million tons
a total of about 369 Corrugated Box Companies (missing data from Benelux)
a total of about 630 corrugated box processing plants (missing data from Benelux)
the number of corrugated lines is about 448, including about 24 below 2m There are about 320 pieces at 5m, and about 74 pieces above 2.5m (incomplete data, missing data from France, Poland and Turkey)
the average gram weight of corrugated board is about 505g/㎡
the consumption of base paper is about 20.766 million tons
the total number of employees in the corrugated box industry is about 103202, and the production staff is about 69450
in European countries, Germany is the leader in terms of corrugated board production, and it is also the core of Europe's corrugated packaging industry, Its corrugated board output in 2018 reached 10.625 billion, 52.7% higher than that of Italy, which ranked second. Followed by Italy and Spain, the output in 2018 reached 704 million square meters and 5.286 billion square meters. In addition, the output of traditional powers France and Britain is 5.151 billion square meters and 5.007 billion square meters respectively. Turkey's output also reached 4.357 billion square meters, surpassing Poland at one stroke, an increase of about 63.12% over its 2.671 billion square meters in 2014
in terms of the number of carton enterprises in European countries, Turkey ranks first with 88 carton enterprises, becoming a veritable "carton processing base" in Europe. Followed by 72 in Spain and 44 in Germany. In addition, 43 in Italy and 40 in Poland ranked fourth and fifth respectively
in terms of the number of secondary carton factories in European countries, Germany ranks first, while Turkey ranks second. Here is a problem: many group companies have set up multiple factories in Germany. Therefore, in general, the number of group companies may not be large, but the number of secondary plants under it is large, with an average of nearly three plants in a company. On the contrary, there are many enterprises of different brands in Turkey, so the total number of enterprises has reached 88, but the number of secondary factories has reached 110, with an average of 1.25 factories per company. Spain, Italy, Britain and France, the traditional powers, rank third to sixth, with an overall number of secondary plants of about 90, 69, 67 and 62 respectively
from the perspective of the tile lines in European countries, except for France, Poland and Turkey, which have not published the corresponding data, it must be recognized that the tile lines in these three countries should account for a high proportion of the total tile lines in Europe, especially Turkey and Poland, as can be seen from the above number of secondary plants. However, we still need to study the general situation of Europe. In the total number of 448 known tile lines Tile lines with a width of 5m still account for the majority, with 320 accounting for about 71.43%, while the total number of tile lines below 2m is about 54, accounting for about 12.05%, and the total number of tile lines above 2.5m is about 74, accounting for about 16.52%
from the perspective of the average gram weight of corrugated board in European countries, Italy is the highest, about 555g/㎡, and the UK is the lowest, about 429g/㎡, which is about 29.37% lower than the gram weight of the former, which is closely related to the terminal industry served by the two countries. In 2018, the average weight of corrugated board in Europe was about 505g/㎡
in terms of the per capita output of various countries, the per capita output of Italy has reached 1112000 square meters, and even Hungary, which has the lowest per capita output, has reached 434000 square meters. Generally speaking, the per capita production capacity of the corrugated box industry in Europe is at a high level. According to 103202 employees and 48.177 billion square meters, the per capita production capacity in Europe reached 466800 square meters/year
according to the inventory | Rongcheng, Shanying, Zhenglong, Jingxing, Zhengye, Shengda... Who sells the most expensive cartons? Even if you choose Rongcheng paper, which has the lowest average price of cartons, at 3.117 per square meter, the output value of 466800 square meters is about 1455000. If calculated according to the per capita output of 1.122 million square meters in Italy, the output value created by each person every year is about 3.466 million. What an amazing number this is
take the business situation of Hexing packaging in 2019 as an example, its total number of 8554 employees created an output value of 11.097 billion, with a per capita output value of about 1.2973 million (the service income of the industrial chain accounts for 30.67% of the total revenue, so the actual per capita output value should be about 900000); Take the business situation of meiyingsen in 2019 as an example, its total number of 4900 employees created an output value of 3.392 billion, with a per capita output value of about 692200; Taking the business situation of Yutong technology in 2019 as an example, its total number of 20446 employees created an output value of 9.845 billion, with a per capita output value of about 481500
finally, let's take a look at the main ridge types in Europe. It can be seen from the above figure that most European countries still use B-BEAM, accounting for nearly 50% in the Czech Republic and more than 40% in Benelux, Poland and Norway. C, BC and E are almost the same. As for F and I micro corrugated, the proportion of use is relatively small. In general, Turkey is an exception. BC Leng is the most used in this country, accounting for more than 50%, while B Leng and C Leng are almost the same, both at about 18%
for the whole Europe, the current total population is about 743million, which is far less than China's total population of 1.4 billion. Its total area is about 10.16 million square kilometers, basically equivalent to China's 9.6 million square kilometers. Therefore, comparing a continent with China is not accurate, but it is still a certain reference. In fact, compared with neighboring Japan or Europe and the United States, China's research and development of 3D printing materials and breakthroughs are the basis for the implementation and utilization of 3D printing technology. At present, there is a lack of detailed data statistics and analysis. Only from the 2018 data released by the China Packaging Federation: in 2018, China's corrugated box industry completed a cumulative output of about 27.3346 million tons, The total output of corrugated boxes in Europe in 2018 was about 24.307 million tons (this data should not be counted in all European countries and regions)
from the perspective of corrugated box output alone, it seems that the overall data of the two will not differ much, but there is a huge gap between China and Europe in terms of the number of corrugated box enterprises, secondary factories, corrugated lines, number of employees, as well as per capita production capacity, automation and intelligence. So, on the surface, it seems that the gap is small, but if we look at the essence through the phenomenon, the gap is not clear in a few words
nowadays, although China's corrugated packaging industry is moving in the right direction, such as transformation and upgrading, continuous elimination of backward production capacity, and support for machine replacement... However, while European peers are further promoting automated and intelligent production of carton enterprises and gradually moving towards industry 4.0, China's upstream, midstream and downstream enterprises of corrugated packaging have not yet reached a consensus, and have not formed a unified force
what we see most in our circle of friends is the unreasonable price rise of the paper mill, which is passively accepted by the carton factory. However, when negotiating with the upstream and downstream leaders, even the domestic leader such as Hexing packaging can hardly say that he has absolute bargaining power. The overall negotiation ability is weak, in the state of upstream and downstream attack. Therefore, how long is the road to catch up with Europe and the United States, to be favored in the production of profile and plate products, and to neighboring Japan? How long will it take for China's corrugated box industry to integrate and form a proprietary force belonging to China? All this still needs time to prove that there are one first prize and two third prizes of the Foshan Science and technology award
